In February 1994 a group of patients who attended The Abington Medical Centre surgery were offered the chance to get together to socialise on one afternoon each month.
The meetings were originally held in one of the back rooms of the GP practice. Fortunately, its popularity grew therefore new premises had to be found.
The Community Centre at Parklands provided the ideal venue at the time and the group still meets there.
Referrals from GPs are welcomed, as well as elderly people living in the catchment area self referring.
The friendly group meets on the last Thursday afternoon of each month from 13:45 – 15:45 and has a wide programme of activities/talks/outings.
Tea and biscuits too, of course!
Due to the Covid Pandemic meetings are not taking place at the moment and we will update this site when they do become avaialble.
