Details for RSV/Flu and Covid Vaccinations
RSV Vaccination
For patients who turn 75 and those aged 75 to 79 you will be eligible for a free vaccine to protect you from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
RSV is an infectious disease of the airways and lungs. RSV infection often causes symptoms similar to a cold, including:
- cough
- sore throat
- sneezing
- a runny or blocked nose
It can also make you become wheezy or short of breath and lead to pneumonia and other life-threatening conditions. There is no specific treatment, and most infections will get better by themselves. Every year thousands of older adults need hospital care for RSV, and some of them will die. RSV can be more severe in people with medical conditions such as heart or lung disease or a weakened immune system.
You only need one dose of vaccine as it will last for several years.
We offer clinics throughout the year and will invite you as and when you become eligible.

How to help our clinics run smoothly when attending Abington Medical Centre:
- Please do not attend if you have a high temperature/fever
- Be prepared for the weather in the event you have to wait outside for a short period.
- Wear a short sleeved top so your arm is easily accessible.
- Turn up for your appointment at the time given to you.
- Cancel if you cannot attend so we can offer your appointment to someone else.
